Here can be found a few of the stories included in the books my mother gave me. I have spent many hours reading from these books and I hope you will find the stories as enjoyable as I have.
The Wee, Wee Mannie and the Big, Big Coo - This story is somewhat in dialect. It's a Scotch Folk Tale and this version is adapted but it doesn't say from what or where. It would be a cute story to read at bedtime to a youngster if you can get the dialect right.
How Brer Rabbit Met Brer Tar-Baby - This one is in dialect so it's really fun to read aloud! I really enjoyed this story as a youngster. Now I guess it would be considered politically incorrect, so I'm glad I have this version saved to read in the future. I'm sure other "fixed" versions will be the only ones available in the future. It's too bad. It's really cool to read in this dialect. That's half the experience of the story!
A Story About the Little Rabbits - This story is also in dialect and is about Brer Rabbit's "chilluns." It's not as funny as the Brer Rabbit story above but the dialect is wonderful!
The Three Sillies - This is truly one of the most silly stories I have ever heard.
